I deeply regret my absence in contributing to my own blog... I sincerely apologise to the few readers of my blog and i also vouch to contribute more regularly in the coming days.. Its just that i am a bit lazy these days..
Previously when i wrote on "The Great Mental Crisis", i was talking about what excess work can do to "A Beautiful Mind".. (yah.. like mine).. Now i just feel like having experienced too many things in very little time. For the past 4 months, i have been living in Sweden. These 4 months have gone fast like 4 weeks in contrast with the 3 months i had spent at Hyderabad which went like 3 years.. on and on and on.. Those were the days when every day was like a week with all actual weekends weakened. The only good thing was that lots of learning actually happened while doing so much of work in a day. I did not like it then, the exploitation i had undergone to meet business needs (as they call it). But in the last 4 months of my work (i mean.. so called "Work") in Sweden, i have lived the other extreme. With some carppy work to do most of the time, i felt nothing else but boredom.. The change of place or the classic "On-Site" effect meant almost nothing to me... without my pals around, without home-food, without proper work, it was too tough and finally i have learnt something from here too.. If you are a good learner and if you are in the formative years of your career.. you need to be doing proper work or atleast try to apply something that you have learnt in college.. There should be some food for thought all the time if Jack should not be a dull boy... When the nature of work is not good.. or in corporate terms, if the "Job Profile" of an individual is not contributing to his/her own career.. then its a total waste or in much simpler terms.... you are into a "Nonsensical Iterative Job" that requires no thought.. Any human can be trained to fit into that routine process.. Then why do we need a Engineering degree here for ?? I do agree that there is a vital factor which i might have missed out.. "Money" !! You can certainly earn lots by carrying out all given tasks by agreeing to re-locate anywhere in the world to do that task.. but the question is "Is it only money that is needed over the long run ??" .. I am not talking about people who just wanna live happily with all the money they have earnt.. I am talking about real people.. people who wanna earn respect and earn people over the long run.. and most of all the people who wanna do justice to their proffessional life.. If you stay abroad and work for say 2 years, there is a different kind of exposure you get and a business outlook about how things work differently in different parts of the world... you get to travel to other places, see all 7 wonders but where are we heading to ??? I dont see a logical constructive purpose in this routine which we follow... I read somewhere, in one of the news web-sites that.. there was no mention about the programming skills posessed by Indians at the various creations presented at the International IT Summit where all our CEOs and Enterpreneurs were supposedly seated as spectators. The background reason is that all Indians come under the category "Coders".. which is a "narrow, non-inovative and stressful" activity.. and its just a part of what is seen as actual "Programming" according to international IT standards. All that you need to know is the right technology and some skills of planning code re-use (we avoid using copy-paste everytime because its not simple copy-paste anyways).. because we had the number of people required to do all these boring activities at the lowest price, we are all still part of the affectionately called IT boom in India. On the other side of the whole bigger issue, there is no doubt that the IT revolution although complex to understand has improved the quality of life of milions in India. But the fact also remains that when BMW cars are so common in the developed countries, there are people who drag all their friends out of their houses just to spot a single BMW car that passes by on a Indian tar road and they still feel lucky about having seen one. Its a "Lose to Win" situation. We individuals are willing to lose our health, dreams , time and acquired knowledge for money and quality of life. Its typically like this.. you lose 4, you gain 2 but there are some hidden weightages attached to all these 6. We dont consider that and go by rough approx figures because we are way out of touch from doing things the "Engineering" way. You could not have passed basic Engineering Mathematics if you had calculated the same way few years back. Mind you the actual net loss on compromising on these 4 to gain those 2 as i see it is pretty high and also its effects are irreversible. When this issue is viewed from a much farther distance in order to get a fuller view, one could also find that it is the very same "Brain in Drain" problem that has been under constant debate ever since we were born. We had acquired all the necessary knowledge since ages but had never bothered to apply it. The net result we could not make an automobile engine to challenge "Honda", we couldnt make a car to challenge "TOYOTA", we couldnt manufacture any electronic device to challenge "SONY" and last but not the least, even at the peak of the IT revolution India has no indigenous IT products.. nothing to challenge Intel, AMD, Microsoft or Google !!! All we do is that submit papers to our local HRs and wait for new papers from these booming companies... I know this is true.. I see it everywhere, everyday !! When do we manufacture our own computer Chip ?? How long is the boom guaranteed to the Services industry ?? What if everything gets automated by use of Advanced Robotics and Nano technology blah blah.... ?? I have a remote feeling that in the near future, there will be no Japanese Clients who outsource projects to Indian service indutries because i guess they will have all these boring tasks automated using Robots in the next 5 years (just a thought). There is no bigger insult than a human making another artificial human that can carry out all your tasks at office. That would only mean that the individuality of the "Incredible India"n is lost. I can be continuously talkative if this is the going to be the topic.. I will stop for time being.. May be there will be a Part III to finish the Mental Crisis Trilogy !! Your comments most welcome...
